While Murray spends most of his time in the 'Life Skills' classroom with his handler and special education teacher Lauren Berry, his is accessible to the rest of the high school. 'Kids will come in here having such a bad day,' Berry said. 'They'll sit with him for a few minutes, then they'll get up and go on their day like nothing ever happened.'

Murray wears this red, service dog vest during most of the school day, aside form his 42 minute lunch break during seventh period. 'It's really cool that they teach them that when this is on, you're working,' Murray's handler and Northern York Special education teacher said of the vest. 'When this is off, you can be a normal dog.'

Murray, one of seven service dogs throughout Northern York School District, stands in his classroom at the jhigh school. 'It has made a huge difference,' said Northern High School principal Steve Lehman. 'So I think that's where I would say it's been money well spent within the district. ... It does add to the overall environment, having dogs part of what we do.'
