Friends and family will gather Sunday to celebrate the life of local musician Christian Salcedo, who was killed last week when he was struck by a car in Milltown.

In addition to being the frontman of the Wilmington rock band Nine Eyes, Salcedo, 47, played in several other bands throughout his life -- many of whom will perform at Sunday’s “We Bid You Goodnight: A Celebration of the Life of Christian Salcedo.”

The memorial, which will blend memories and music, will be held at World Cafe Live at the Queen (500 N. Market St.) from 3 to 9 p.m.

The remembrance will include performances by the remaining members of Nine Eyes, along with other acts that Salcedo played with over the years, including In the Light, Double Dose, The Porch Chops, Monterey Popsicle and more.

Not only was Salcedo embedded deep in the Delaware musical community for more than 30 years, but he was also a teacher of English, science, history and music for the Christina and Colonial school districts. He also worked as a private music teacher.

The memorial is open to all of those whose lives were touched by Salcedo, according to his family.

Donations can be made to the Christian Salcedo Music Scholarship Fund in his memory.
