Mmmm, scrapple.

The best-known scrapple festival in the world is back for its 25th year this weekend.

For a quarter of a century, scrapple fans have flocked to downtown Bridgeville for the open-air Apple Scrapple Festival, filled with entertainment and plenty of eats. (Don’t worry scrapple haters. There will be other food up for grabs as well.)

The festival opens Friday (4 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.) with just the food court and carnival open. The night features a dance party with Rehoboth Beach-based party band The Funsters, along with the annual Little Miss Scrapple contest.

On Saturday, all systems are go from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with vendors lining downtown streets along with a car show. There will also be five musical acts, including Dewey Beach-based cover band Love Seed Mama Jump (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.), which is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Don’t miss the kids apple toss at 1 p.m., the ladies skillet toss at 1:30 p.m., the traditional mayoral scrapple sling at 2 p.m. or scrapple chunkin’ at 2:30 p.m. (When else do you get to see elected officials toss breakfast meats?)

The festival is free. Go to applescrapple.com for a complete schedule and details.
