Forgotten Mile Ale House offers discounted brews

Having celebrated its first anniversary recently, a Sussex County gastropub is continuing to draw admirers of its fine food and frothy beverages. Aptly named the Forgotten Mile Ale House, it is located just north of Dewey Beach on Route 1 on the stretch of highway that locals have referred to by that nickname for decades.

The Forgotten Mile Ale House boasts gourmet comfort food, 14 taps and a large selection of craft beer, bottles and cans.

The building previously housed the longtime comfort food destination known as the Captain's Table, but this ale house couldn't be more different. It has a menu full of unique dishes featuring seafood, meats and vegetables, as well as more than a dozen draft beers behind the bar, which is often full during happy hour.

Happy hour currently takes place Tuesdays through Fridays and on Sundays, from 4 to 6 p.m. Take advantage of the $2.50 domestic bottles and Miller Lite drafts; $3 Lagunitas IPA drafts; select 16-oz cans of beer for $4 and select glasses of wine for $5. Half-priced appetizers are also offered during happy hour, including the FMAH Wings, tossed in a homemade sauce.

The Forgotten Mile Ale House has a special charity event set for 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Funds will be raised to assist medical bills incurred by Carol "Mimi" Levasseur following a recent automobile accident. She is known for bartending at Rehoboth nightspots including the former Sydney's Blues & Jazz Restaurant, where she worked for 16 years.
