Milford's Mispillion River Brewing will host the third annual Meatball-Con this weekend.

If you’re a meatball fan, there’s only one place to be in Delaware Saturday afternoon: the third annual Meatball-Con at Mispillion River Brewing (255 Mullet Run St., Milford).

Microbrews and meatballs will be on the menu from noon to 4 p.m. with patrons judging meatballs in three categories from 13 restaurants across the state.

Meatball-Con, which raises money for the the Food Bank of Delaware, drew more than 300 meatball lovers last year. They crowned the team from Rehoboth Beach area restaurant Crust & Craft as the overall winner.

In lieu of charging for meatball samples, the brewery asks attendees to bring a can of food or cash donation for the Food Bank of Delaware.

This year, there will be 13 competitors, including Crust & Craft, Grandpa Mac, Grain Craft Bar and Kitchen, The Starboard, Restaurant 55, Crooked Hammock, Argilla Brewing Co., Brick Works Brewing and Eats, Dewey Beer Company, Cantwell’s Tavern, Bethany Blues, Mr. Bar-B-Que and Dewey Beach Club.

Grain, which won in one of the categories last year a venison meatball, will be entering a rattlesnake meatball this year, organizers have teased.

Patrons will receive a print-out listing all the restaurants when they arrive, checking off each spot after having a taste. The sheet is then used as a voting card.

Milford’s own Stone Jack Ballers will perform a post-convention set from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m to keep the party going.
