The Fourth of July is a week behind us and the sounds of fireworks are silenced. But summer on Delmarva is just heating up and as the temperatures continue to rise, the region braces itself for the busiest time of the year.

With that come myriad events for the rest of the summer from Ocean City to Lewes.

This week features a bar crawl, fishing for money and more.

Here are five fun things to do this weekend on Delmarva:

The Big Tuna

Big money. Big tuna. Big boats. Sounds like a big weekend in Ocean City.

The 30th annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament is this weekend and runs Friday-Sunday, with weigh-ins from 4-7:30 p.m. all weekend at Ocean City Fishing Center at Route 50 and Inlet Isle Lane in West OC. The event is free for spectators and $900 for participants.

Stache Crawl

Mustaches will be on display in Dewey Beach at the Stache Crawl, a bar crawl that enters its 11th year and 10th consecutive in Dewey.

In the beginning, the event was just a small group of family and friends of the late Kellen Poultney, who died unexpectedly of heart failure in 2003 at the age of 20 while a student at the University of Delaware.

It has grown significantly, to a possible 1,000 participants this year. For $20, participants receive a T-shirt or tank top that allows them drink specials at participating bars in town.

Proceeds benefit the KJP Foundation, which gives money to charities benefiting children in need and the Special Olympics.

Sundaes in the Park

This and nearly every Sunday in the summer at Northside Park on 125th Street in Ocean City, ice cream, live entertainment and fireworks are available for a small fee. What could be better on a Sunday?

Sundaes in the Park is a family concert series from 7-9 p.m. that provides sunset views over the Assawoman Bay.

Live music this week will be the sounds of Uprizing, an Eastern Shore band that features a mix of R&B, funk, reggae and classic rock sounds.

Wing eating contest

Dewey Beach's own Wing Bowl takes place Sunday at The Starboard with the 28th annual Wings To Go Suicide Wing Eating Contest.

Participants will try and break the record of 141 "Suicide" wings from Wings To Go, the company's hottest flavor.

First prize is $500 and the contest kicks off at 2 p.m. at The Starboard. Wings To Go will have 2,500 wings ready for the contest, according to a press release.

The course is set up on the beach in Ocean City for a previous Ocean Games program.

Ocean Games

An annual event held along the Ocean City shoreline, Ocean Games features seven competitions Saturday, including swimming, paddle boarding, and running on the beach.

Ocean Games provides open water enthusiasts of all skill levels with a great experience.

The mission of Ocean Games is to raise funds for the Johns Hopkins Brain and Stroke Rehabilitation Program.
