Unseasonably low temperatures and rain-soaked days have made this a not-so-typical August week on Delmarva. Dangerous storms Monday gave way to wetness early Tuesday before the clouds broke.

But with the weekend ahead, there's still plenty of time to have fun on Delmarva this weekend.

Here are five fun things to do – from Big Wheels to car wheels and more.

Big Wheel Race @ Starboard

This Saturday, The Starboard in Dewey Beach plays host to the 9th annual Big Wheel Race for Breast Cancer.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. and races start at 2 p.m. Expect whacky outfits in the spirt of breast cancer awareness (pink) and plenty of silliness, with people of all ages big wheels. Activities include an obstacle course, drag races, bra pong, prizes and an auction.

Funds raised Saturday benefit the Dewey Goes Pink 5K event in October, which raises money for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

OC Cruzers

On select Sundays throughout the summer, including this one, the OC Cruzers display about 15 vehicles along Somerset Street Plaza.

The owners of the vehicles will supervise and talk with their audience about their classic cars.

The event runs from 2:30-6 p.m.

Skimboard Championships

This weekend in Dewey Beach, from Friday-Sunday, a multi-day festival highlights Southern Delaware beach culture and spirit through skimboarding, skateboarding, stand-up paddle boards, music and art.

At the Dagsworthy Street beach starting at 9 a.m. all three days, the 36th annual Zap Pro/Am World Championships of Skimboarding takes place. The event is said to attract more than 100 of the top skimboarders from around the world.

5K for Kids

Also going on in Dewey is the 2nd annual Delaware Kids Fund 5K at Que Pasa.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, and the race follows at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 if purchased before Thursday at noon and $30 the day of the event. Proceeds benefit the Delaware Kids Fund and amenities include T-shirts, post race refreshments (beer for those of age), a taco bar, complimentary massages and more.

Carousel Ice Show

Every night except Fridays from mid-June to early September at 6:30 p.m. at the Carousel Oceanfront Hotel & Condos, an ice show gives beachgoers a break from the heat.

This season, the show on display is The Next Ice Age.

Admission is free, but for the best seats in the house, make reservations for rink-side dining. Reserve by calling 410-524-1000, ext. 7195.
