Incoming boats show the flags to let the crowd know of the catch. Bras also fly in support of breast cancer awareness. Part of the Poor Girls Open prize money is donated to the American Cancer Society.

Even though the White Marlin Open has come and gone, there's still plenty of fishing to be done on Delmarva as summer winds down.

Between fishing, surfing and plenty of other events, there is a lot of fun to be had at the beaches this weekend.

Here are five fun things to do.

Poor Girls Open

This week, the 24th annual Poor Girls Open takes place in Ocean City at the Bahia Marina on the bayside by 22nd Street. The ladies-only billfish release tournament benefits breast cancer research. More than 100 boats are expected to participate.

For non-fishers, there are silent auctions, 50/50 tickets, T-shirts for sale and other fun events at the marina. In the past three years, it has raised more than $100,000.

Savor the Wish

Eating awesome food and helping children in need at the same time? That's something a lot of people can get behind.

Saturday night at Nassau Valley Vineyards in Lewes, Make a Wish Delaware hosts the Savor the Wish event, featuring some of Delaware's finest cuisine and beverages.

Tickets are $60 and will be available at the door on a limited basis.

Food from the likes of Nage, Salt Air, Taco Reho, Touch of Italy and more will be paired with beverage options from Dogfish Head, Crooked Hammock, Painted Stave and others.

Surf's Up

The ESA Summer Surf Series picks up again this weekend with two days of surfing – Saturday and Sunday – at the beach, near 35th Street.

The amateur event provides athletes with an avenue to bigger competitions.

Country vocalist Maggie Rose will perform this weekend at the Rusty Rudder.

Country tunes in Dewey

This Sunday night at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach, country performer Maggie Rose will be on stage.

Tickets for the event are $10.

Rose, a Potomac native, has toured previously with the likes of Sheryl Crow. Country Aircheck magazine reported Rose was the sixth most-played female in country radio in 2013.
