With tributes to Bruce Springsteen and the Backstreet Boys and more, the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand is popping this summer with high-energy singers and get-up-and-dance vibes.

"It’s definitely something to bring the whole family to," program director Corey Groll said of the lineup. "We’ve done the best to ensure it has the most variety it can offer."

Rock, salsa, country, folk, blues and soul are on the bandstand's roster. Several military bands are scheduled too, including the U.S. Navy Concert Band, which will perform for the first time in Rehoboth Beach on Independence Day.

"They've never performed anywhere in the area," Groll said, adding that most of the bands are Mid-Atlantic-based.

The Bandstand's free music acts start Memorial Day weekend, though the full weekend program begins June 15. All bands are set to perform Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays from 8 to 9:15 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

"If you vacation the whole week, you’re going to see three completely different acts," Groll said. "You get variety for free in Rehoboth Beach."

The lineup is heavy on tribute bands: Desert Highway, an Eagles tribute band, will kick off the summer season on May 26. Neil Diamond tribute group Real Diamond will perform June 30.

Boathouse Row will take to the stage on Aug. 12.

Yellow Brick Road will play Elton John's music on Aug. 3., and the B-Street Band will jam to Bruce Springsteen hits on Aug. 11.

The bandstand's listings cover '50s rock all the way to contemporary pop, with old school funk, bluegrass and a boy band tribute woven in between.

Local acts will also take the stage at the end of July, including Lower Case Blues, Vinyl Shockley and The Clifford Keith Band.
