Firefly Music Festival releases daily band schedule

Firefly Music Festival's headliners for 2018 include Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.

We already knew hip hop kings Eminem and Kendrick Lamar would be sizzling this summer at Firefly Music Festival.

But after Wednesday morning's daily schedule unveil, we now know a lot more about the annual June 14-17 fest in Dover, including the fact that Eminem will prowl the main stage on Saturday with Lamar landing on Sunday.

Even though Firefly released the days that each of this year's 95 acts will perform, the biggest news out of the announcement might be that Firefly will definitely offer single-day passes to the four-day festival once again.

Those passes go on sale Friday at fireflyfestival.com at 10 a.m.

Single-day passes cost $109 for general admission until Sunday at 11:59 p.m. The price jumps to $119 after that. VIP single day passes for Friday, Saturday and Sunday cost $269 each. There are no single-day Thursday passes this year. (The 2015 festival with Paul McCartney was the only year daily passes were not made available.)

If four days and nights in The Woodlands is too much of a sensory overload, fans can now plot Firefly day trips knowing which acts will be performing on which day.

R&B singer SZA, the one-time student at Delaware State University who earned five Grammy Award nominations last year, will perform at Firefly Music Festival on Sunday, June 17.

In addition to Eminem and Lamar, fellow headliners Arctic Monkeys will bring their British indie rock to Dover on Friday and The Killers, in their third Firefly headlining appearance, will lead their pop-rock sing-a-longs on Saturday.

Delaware's lone Firefly representative, Dover hip-hop act Amillion the Poet, is slated for Thursday. Another performer with Delaware roots — former Delaware State University and break-out R&B star SZA — is performing Sunday.

On Friday, highlights include Maryland rapper Logic, country rockers Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Philadelphia native Ron Gallo and Firefly alum Foster the People.

The next day — traditionally Firefly's biggest in terms of crowd size and big name acts — is as stacked as you would imagine.

Saturday offers rapper Lil Wayne and electronic act Martin Garrix, along with rockers Royal Blood and Portugal. The Man (That's how he styles his name). Beastie Boy Mike D will also perform a DJ set.

Sunday's swan song will be a busy one before Lamar (and his dozen Grammy Awards) takes the stage as the reigning hottest act in hip-hop. English indie rock band Alt-J, indie folk band Lord Huron, Seattle electronic duo Odesza and hip-hop pioneer Warren G round out the final day.
