HGTV's "House Hunters" has returned to the Eastern Shore, but this time, it went tiny.

The popular show on the Home & Garden channel that spotlights interested home-buyers looking for their dream house with the help of a Realtor showcased Pocomoke City in a recent episode in which a young couple is looking for their perfect tiny house to travel the country.

"Writers Go Tiny on the Road," produced by Pie Town Productions, is episode three of season 159.

"Married Maryland freelance writers have moved out of their three-bedroom apartment to simplify, go mobile and go tiny," HGTV describes the episode on its website. "She wants a cozy, customizable cottage, while he is concerned with practicality and mobility. They task her real estate agent brother with finding them a tiny home within their budget of $45,000."

The episode's filming took place in Pocomoke City. Sarah Carson is native to the area, while Chris is originally from West Virginia. Sarah Carson's brother, Jeremy Mason, assisted them with the house hunting.

Mason is a Realtor for Long and Foster in Salisbury and has been a licensed agent for 13 years.

Sarah Carson said she and her husband have always been fans of "House Hunters." The tiny house episodes of the series inspired them to downsize as they noticed much of their three-bedroom apartment was only being used for their cats to roam around.

The couple enjoy travelling and aren't exactly sure where they want to settle down, so a tiny house that could move from location to location easily was their ideal.

“The idea of being able to, before we have children and before we settle down. We saw an opportunity to be able to move around and see what area really spoke to us and where we really wanted to be,” Sarah Carson said.

Sarah and Chris Carson sent in an application to "House Hunters" when they decided to begin their search. After an interview process, the filming began.

Sarah Carson said the couple agreed on moving to a tiny house to travel, but some disagreed on some aesthetic aspects of the change. Chris Carson wanted something that wouldn't need any renovations, while Sarah Carson wanted to customize their new home.

Both said there was compromise on the style side of the house hunting, but the end result was just right.

“When we found the place that we liked, everything just seemed perfect," she said.

Another concern was finding a tiny house that was easy to move from location to location. The couple didn't realize that most tiny houses can't be moved quickly and are treated more like traditional homes with property rules, Chris Carson said.

It turned out an RV was the best decision for the couple as the inside could look like a typical home while also being easy to transport.

"It all goes with us," he said.

Mason said helping his sister and her husband find their new home wasn't much different from finding a home for any other client. However, finding a transportable tiny house added a new challenge as he needed to find the couple something that worked for their lifestyle.

"An RV is basically made for the road," Mason said.

The Carsons and their cats are now fully moved into their new space and are enjoying the tiny house lifestyle.

“It’s great. I really like having the smaller space,” Sarah Carson said.

She said the biggest concern with the move was storage space, but they were able to compromise and get rid of items they didn't need.

Chris Carson feels a tiny house gives owners more money and freedom. Less space also allows homeowners to realize what they don't need and downsize.

"It's amazing what you discover you don't need when you don't have it," Chris Carson said.

The pair are already achieving their goals of travelling the U.S. as well. Currently, the Carsons live in the greater Philadelphia area. but the two will be relocating in less than two weeks to West Virginia then Maryland and then Florida.

Sarah Carson said she and Chris both agree that vacationing is nice, but the dream is to stay in a vacation place long enough to feel like a local, which they'll be able to do with their tiny house.

“I think that’s what we’re looking to achieve,” she said.

The couple run a travel blog, www.wanderous.life, where they can write about their adventures. Both agreed their new home is a good incentive to travel more and makes relocation easier.

"Writers Go Tiny on the Road" premiered on HGTV on April 24. Check local listings for when it will reair.
