Philadelphia Eagles fans have watched as NFL seasons started with a bang in Times Square, on the National Mall and at Heinz Field. But with the reigning Super Bowl champions in our backyard, this year the party starts in Philly.

Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes is helping kick off things with a show at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia on Sept. 6 before the showdown between the Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons, a rematch of last season's NFC Divisional Playoff game.

The concert is only part of the NFL Kickoff.

Fans can head to Philly Sept. 6 for a day full of events before the game even begins, with a re-watch of Super Bowl LII, appearances by former Eagles and other NFL icons, a display of the collection of 52 Super Bowl rings, an NFL Play 60 zone and more. And if you've ever wanted to snap a selfie with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, this is your chance.

Mendes takes the stage at 6 p.m., and there's a Super Bowl LIII ticket giveaway set for 7:50 p.m.

The concert announcement came Thursday night from Canton, Ohio, where Brian Dawkins was set to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Former Eagle Terrell Owens is being enshrined as well, although he's skipping the ceremony.
