'Angel,' 'Building a Mystery' singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan coming to The Grand
The Grammy-award-winning singer-songwriter behind hits like "Building a Mystery" and "Adia," not to mention the Lilith Fair, is coming to The Grand next month.
Sarah McLachlan will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.
The Canadian writer started gaining a following in the early 90s, making a mark with the album"Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and hits including "Possession" and "Ice Cream."
But it was her fifth album, "Surfacing," released in 1997, that made her a household name. Hits like "Sweet Surrender" and "Adia" catapulted it to 10-time platinum status. The album also brought us "Angel," which has haunted animal lovers in recent years as the theme behind ugly-cry-inducing ads for the ASPCA.

McLachlan also founded a nonprofit, the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, which offers high-quality music education for at-risk and underserved children.
Tickets start at $70, and go on sale for the public at 10 a.m. Friday. The donor pre-sale starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The Grand's fall lineup has other high-profile artists headed to Delaware, including hometown boy George Thorogood and the Destroyers on Oct. 12, comedians Kathleen Madigan and Lewis Black on Nov. 2 and 15, respectively, and Michael McDonald headlining the annual Grand Gala on Dec. 1.
Broadway fans, take note: Tony-winning darling and "Younger" star Sutton Foster performs at The Playhouse Nov. 3.
