Dogfish head employee and veteran Michael Bittenbender, who works in their warehouse, fulfillment and receiving division, helps make the brewery’s new stout, a military-themed brew that benefits a pair of veteran non-profit groups. BRE (Beer, Ready to Enjoy) will debut at Dogfish’s Milton and Rehoboth Beach locations Friday morning.

Are you starting to think, “Has there been an off-centered beer that Dogfish Head hasn’t made yet?”

Well, here’s another new one from the mad beer-makers at the state’s largest craft brewery.

Starting on Friday at 11 a.m., Dogfish’s newest stout will start flowing at both the Milton tasting room and the Rehoboth Beach brewpub.

It’s got a military theme through and through.

The medium-bodied, black brew is named BRE (Beer, Ready to Enjoy), named after the MREs (meal, ready-to-eat) used by service members.

The Dogfish 7.5% ABV beer was actually made with some MRE ingredients such as peanut butter, saltine crackers and coffee.

But here’s the best part: all proceeds from BRE sales will go to a pair of military organizations helping the men and women who serve our nation.

Pets for Vets, a non-profit that rescues, trains and pairs shelter pets with veterans who can benefit from a companion animal, and the Milford-based Home of the Brave Foundation, which provides temporary housing, food and more to vets working toward gaining permanent housing, will benefit.
