Beer is the answer for your holiday gift problems

JOHN EUSTICE
SPECIAL TO THE SALISBURY DAILY TIMES

The holiday season means there are a lot of choices you have to make for everyone you are close with and the people you slightly know in the office.

Finding the perfect gift without asking the person what they want is a near impossible task.

However, there is one shared cultural center for many people that comes in a glass: A beer.

For the past decade, craft beer and beer culture enthusiasts have increased their numbers across America.

A couple of years ago there might have been one brewery in your state. Today, Delmarva is one of those areas greatly affected by the explosion of the craft beer industry.

These breweries and brewmasters craft beers that are renowned across America. The gifts you purchase from these local breweries will put a smile on the face of any beer enthusiasts no matter how far away they live.

Dogfish Head, 3rd Wave, Evolution, Burley Oak, Fin City and more notable Lower Shore breweries feature a retail shop in their stores as well as an online outlet.

Suggestion No. 1: Clothing

Bryan Brushmiller, owner of Burley Oak Brewery, holds a glass of his beer at the Berlin brewery.

Find the brewery your friend or family member enjoys the most and buy a piece of apparel so they could represent their favorite beer company.

Get them a hat with the Dogfish logo, an Evolution Brewing Company hat, a sweatshirt from 3rd Wave or a Fin City T-shirt.

Suggestion No. 2: Drinking glasses

Beer glasses wait for drinkers at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Craft Beer Tasting at the Salisbury University Art Galleries on Feb. 15 2018.

What if your gift receiver is a fan of a particular style of beer from any brewery? Then they might not know that they have been drinking their favorite adult beverage out of the wrong glass.

Brew masters recommend different drinking glasses for each variety of beverage whether it be a glass set or a customized beer stein.

A few examples of matches for the beer enthusiasts in your life: for the India Pale Ale or the saison style enthusiasts in your life get them a Tulip Glass, a small glass with a round bottom, a Weizen Glass for the wheat ale or hefeweizen fan, or an Imperial Pint which fit the needs for most beer varieties.

Suggestion No. 3: Actual beer!

A beer growler sites on a bar in Salisbury, Maryland.

The last piece to any beer enthusiast’s repertoire to optimize their drinking enjoyment and that is the growler or drink tank.

Investing in a reliable and reusable 64-ounce drink tank could end up saving the family member or friend lots of money. That way the gift receiver thinks of you when they save a few dollars every time they refill their drink tank at their preferred brewery.

Give them the insulated growler already full of their cold beverage during the holidays and already enjoy the benefits of having a good portable drink tank.

Look out this season as well for holiday special brews from your favorite breweries.

Sometimes the best gift is the gift that optimizes a person’s enthusiasm.
