Ocean City's Shoppers Fair offers gifts galore for holiday shopping

The holiday season means a time for gift giving — as well as gift buying — and the annual Holiday Shoppers Fair is here to help.

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City hosts the Holiday Shoppers Fair for one weekend, from Nov. 23-25. Tickets to get into the convention center are $3, and more than 150 vendors will be selling a wide range of gifts for the season. Children 13 years or younger are admitted for free.

Doors open each day of the fair at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The ticket price includes access to the fair for each day of the event, so guests can return if they missed that hard-to-buy-for person on their gift list.

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center is named Roland E. "Fish" Powell, who served as mayor of Ocean City from 1985-1996.

Melanie Collins, one of the organizer of the event, calls the Holiday Shoppers Fair a great excuse to visit the beach and get some shopping done at the same time.

“I believe people enjoy coming to Ocean City,” Collins said, “and this is an opportunity to come to an event in the offseason where you can see some of the same vendors year to year, as well as new ones.”

Christmas décor, jewelry, toys, pet specific items and more will be available from the more than 150 vendors.

“We will also have Amish baked goods, chocolates, soups, sauces and the smell of German roasted nuts in the air,” Collins said.

The food court is open during the duration of the fair, along with the non-shopper lounge. Bring your children and watch them enjoy the festive atmosphere as well as activates tailored for them.

Door prizes will be awarded every hour on the half hour, according to Collins, so there are many reasons to spend your time at the Holiday Shoppers Fair.

“I look forward to seeing the vendors that come every year as well meeting new vendors,” Collins said.
