Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Doorway to Magic opens in Salisbury on Nov. 3

A flood of Disney characters comes to Salisbury for "Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Doorway to Magic" on Nov. 3 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

We sat down with Desiree Cosgove, who plays Cinderella in the show, to talk about the performance in Salisbury and how to break into show business. 

Can you talk about what people can expect from Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Doorway to Magic?

Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Doorway to magic is a high energy, live production stage show featuring tons of favorite Disney characters and grand scale magical illusions.

Throughout the show audience members are transported through magical doorways where they will be introduced to stories such as "Cinderella," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Toy Story," "Aladdin" and "Tangled."

We invite the audience to participate with us during the show when Tinkerbell joins Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang to teach her special Magic Words that will be used to help create the magic in the show!

What can the audience expect when they sit down for the show?

Audiences will be amazed by mesmerizing magic illusions such as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider levitating amongst the floating lanterns, Fairy Godmother transforming Cinderella's old rags into her beautiful ball gown in the blink of an eye, and Mickey hypnotizing the infamous dancing magic brooms from Fantasia.

What’s your favorite part of the show?

My favorite part of the show is Buzz Lightyear's fantastic laser light routine. Buzz dances with and manipulates green laser lights throughout this routine, and it is truly nothing like I have seen before. I love standing backstage during the show and watching Buzz rock it out!

For the people who might be interested in following in your footsteps, how do you prepare to be part of a show like this? What’s the preparation and training like?

I have grown up in the dance and performing world since I was 3 years old. After graduating college with a degree in dance, I moved to Orlando, Florida, and began performing at Walt Disney World as dancer in shows and parades.

A few years later I auditioned for Disney Live! and have been lucky to tour with amazing shows ever since! While I grew up in the dance world, many of our other cast members have backgrounds in acting, gymnastics, and musical theater, which have been highly beneficial parts of training for Disney Live!

We travel from city to city performing shows at a high pace, so maintaining stamina and physical fitness is naturally important to us, and keeps us healthy for this high energy show!
