Where to enjoy New Year's Eve on Delmarva

Dewey Beach brought in 2014 with a dropping of a "Skimboarding Figure" from the roof of the Surfrider Apts. at New Orleans St. and Coastal Highway to the delight of a crowd of about 300 on a cold blustery night New Years Eve, with the event sponsored by the Dewey Beach Business Partnership.

Kick off 2018 in Downtown Salisbury with the family-friendly New Year’s Eve ball drop. Event goers can enjoy live entertainment by the Larks & Tops Cut Off DJ Team. Beer and wine will be available outside. The ball drop will take place at the intersection of Main Street and North Division Street at midnight.

OCEAN CITY

Ocean City visitors will get a double-whammy this New Year’s Eve. Not only will there be live entertainment and a midnight fireworks show at Northside Park, but the 25th Annual Winterfest of Lights will remain lit until midnight for those looking for family-friendly entertainment up until the clock strikes 12.

BERLIN

Celebrate the arrival of 2018 on Berlin's Main Street with music, food vendors and a beer garden. Outdoor bar and entertainment begins at 10 p.m. New this year, a Kids Ball Drop will take place at 6 p.m. A Regular Ball Drop will be at midnight. The festivities are sponsored by Berlin Main Street.

Connie Parish of Georgia and Marshall P. Muskrat, ambassador for the town of Princess Anne, dance in the street at the New Year’s Eve Muskrat Dive.

Somerset County

The Shore famous Muskrat Dive will continue this New Year’s Eve in Princess Anne’s Historic Downtown. The free, family-friendly event will feature live music from Uprizing and DJ Rondell Redding, as well as games and activities for kids. In addition to free Smith Island cake, a local waterman will shuck free, fresh oysters in front of visitors.

The Muskrat Dive will take place in front of the Washington Inn & Tavern, where event goers can find warm vittles such as pulled pork, chili, and hotdogs. Across the street at Rebecca’s Ice Cream Parlor there will be ice cream, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Dorchester County

Downtown Cambridge will ring in the new year with its second annual New Year’s Boat Drop. Forgoing the traditional ball, Cambridge will continue it’s new tradition of dropping an Eastern Shore Deadrise Boat and, this year, the “Groove City Lady” to ring in 2018. For those driving to the event, Main Street Cambridge advertised “municipal parking located along Gay Street and behind Chesapeake College."

Talbot County

In Easton, First Night Talbot will celebrate its 24th year of celebrating NYE, featuring live music, face painting, photo booths, craft tables and more. The event will span across five venues (listed below) and will run between 6 p.m. and midnight, where it will include a crab drop in the middle of South Harrison Street between Dover Street and South Street. For younger families or those looking to turn in early, there will be an earlier crab drop at 9 p.m. called Midnight In the Mid Atlantic.

Dewey Beach goers can expect to have a great time ringing in the New Year at the Dewey Beach Ball Drop. On New Orleans Street and Route One, gather to watch the listen to live music and watch the ball drop at midnight!

LEWES

Head on over to coastal Lewes for an Anchor Drop on the Lightship Overfalls. Spectators will gather at Canalfront Park from 11 p.m. until about 12:30 p.m. to watch the anchor drop into the canal in Lewes.

The lighted horseshoe hangs above Robert Reed Park on Chincoteague Island on New Year's Eve before the annual Pony Island Horseshoe Drop on Monday night. Revelers dressed up and came out for the annual event, which is patterned after the Times Square ball drop that is annually televised.

Accomack County

Drive on down to Chincoteague’s downtown for the New Year's Eve Horseshoe Drop & Costume Promenade. Replacing a glowing ball, a gleaming horseshoe will drop at the stroke of midnight after an evening of inventive, crazy costumes, for which there will be a contest.
