Happy hour: No blues in longtime Bethany restaurant

ROGER HILLIS

Bethany Blues is collaborating with Baltimore brewer Heavy Seas for a beer expo in February.

There is no reason to sing the blues while looking for a happy hour destination in downtown Bethany Beach.

One establishment has been keeping locals coming back for more for years.

Bethany Blues is located just one block from the ocean and boardwalk on Pennsylvania Avenue. It features happy hour discounts from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the winter.

Happy hour takes place at the bar and surrounding pub tables. Drink specials include $4 Bud Light and Corona Light drafts, $2 Natural Lights (in 16-oz. cans), select craft beers in bottles for $4.50 and house wines and rail cocktails for $5.

Food specials during happy hour include barbecue grilled shrimp, pigs and frizzies for $5 or a barbecue slider trio for $6.50.

Wednesdays and Thursdays also feature all-night specials available throughout the restaurant. Wednesday is known as Wingo Bingo night. Ten smoked chicken wings are available for $3, with over 10 sauces to choose from. Speed bingo games are held from 7:30 to 9 p.m., with a grand prize of a $50 gift card. Thursday is Burger Night, with 60 different burger options available for $5.
