Sussex County will gain a second Dos Locos this spring at the recently shuttered El Dorado on Route 24 in Rehoboth Beach.

When El Dorado owner Aquiles Demerutis Jr. announced in December that he was closing his 12-year-old Baja-style taco shop, Dos Locos owner Mit Patel jumped on the opportunity to open a second restaurant.

Patel plans to keep the creative Tex-Mex menu of the Rehoboth Avenue Dos Locos and open the space up with more seating, including an outdoor patio.

Expect margaritas (yes, they are planning to build a bar), oozy queso blanco, lobster-stuffed potato skins and a myriad of fajitas at the Plaza Route 24 shopping center by mid-March.

Dos Locos owner Mit Patel said he'd been looking for a second restaurant location when Rehoboth-area El Dorado announced its closure in December.

The restaurant is on Route 24 right off of Coastal Highway — an ideal location, Patel said. He wanted to give his customers a sister restaurant without making them trudge all the way downtown, especially during the summer. An added bonus: Free parking.

Patel is set to finalize the 25-year lease by the end of the week, and begin renovations as early as Jan. 12.

"I'm excited about my next location," he said.
