The wing competition in Delaware is getting tighter, more intense, and filled with the sense of high stakes and peril.

At least, that's how it feels to us.

After thousands of votes, then thousands more, we're down to eight top competitors for the best wings in Delaware.

Two Stones Pub, a beloved contender we'd clocked for a berth in the final four, went down to another Delaware favorite: Stanley's Tavern, a nearly 90-year-old tavern landmark whose "famous wings" were too famous to lose.

Stanley's Tavern squeaked to a victory and will face equally famous Dogfish Head, whose wings barely edged out the roasted Italian wings of Cafe Riviera.

So, who else is in the running?

Kid Shelleen's Charcaol House, the crispy, fiery, casual wing-filled cousin of Delaware (and national!) favorite Harry's Savoy Grill, is facing off against the storied Southern-fried wingettes of Walt's Flavor-Crisp Chicken Express.

Kid Shelleen's in Wilmington was voted one of the state's top wing spots by Delaware Online/News Journal readers.

The roasted wings of Florida-based chain Anthony's Coal-Fired, owned by BurgerFi, continues its march past the Delaware competition: Now, it will face off against the Delaware-famous wings of New Castle County's original brewpub, Stewart's Brewing in Bear.

Finally, two more wing titans: The classic-as-classic-gets fried wings at picturesque Timothy's of Newark, vs the wild inventions of 2 Fat Guys in Hockessin.

Who will still be standing when Delaware Wing Madness is over? Only you decide.

Delaware Wing Madness is a single elimination tournament. Each voting round, the number of wing contenders will reduce by half: Eight, then four, then finally, there will be one wing to rule them all.

The process is simple: For each matchup in the brackets below, vote for the wing you love or vote against the wing you hate.

Voting on the round of eight starts at Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. and ends Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m.
