Thirty years after first getting together, The Snap are preparing to play Wilmington once again.

Just like in recent years, the band is reuniting for one big bash of mostly cover tunes at World Café Live at the Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington) -- set for Friday night at 8 p.m.

Led by Ben LeRoy, the band will be a nine-piece this time around with guest players sitting in and Snap guitarist Rick Fusco flying in from Florida to play the reunion gig.

Fans should expect to be transported back in time, playing songs from their early days playing small clubs like The Barn Door in Wilmington to years later when they were fixtures at larger venues like The Stone Balloon in Newark and the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach.

LeRoy says he unearthed some old Bottle & Cork setlists and the band will play some old covers they haven’t tackled in decades, including songs by new wave favorites Squeeze.

Just like in recent years, the show on the Queen’s downstairs stage is expected to sell out. A limited number of $15 tickets are still available at queen.worldcafelive.com or by calling 994-1400.
