BC list: 10 must-bring beach items

SBY

With the tourist season underway, we want to make sure you're not forgetting something important when you head to the beach. Here are things we wouldn't leave without.

A gallon of water: Not to drink, but to rinse off our feet before we get in the car.

Sunblock: Because the only red creatures we want to see are crustaceans, not ourselves.

Baby powder: Sprinkle anywhere sand is sticking to skin, and the sand is gone.

About $30 in cash: Because you can splurge on the big blue wood-pole umbrellas and wooden lounge chairs every once in a while. That way, you're sitting comfortably in the shade while wiggling your toes through the sand, rather than lying prone on an old natty beach towel under the hot sun.

An empty stomach: Yes, the line for fries is super long, but it's not a beach trip without it. And don't forget a slice and ice cream cone. Caramel popcorn or fudge if there is room.

Lip gloss with SPF: Because sunburned lips are no one's friend.

Frisbee: Just make sure you're throwing with the wind so your throws look better.

Kan Jam: Or, take your frisbee game to the next level by bringing this game along. It makes cornhole look boring by comparison.

Hat: Sometimes, sunscreen simply isn't enough to save fair-skinned faces from getting burned.

Directions to the nearest ice cream parlor: Because nothing tops off a trip to the beach — or eases sunburn — like a cone topped with a double scoop.
