WXPN limited-edition National Record Store Day album

As independent record stores prep their racks and audiophiles compile their must-buy lists, Philadelphia public radio station WXPN announced it would be releasing another special album exclusively available on Record Store Day, which falls on Saturday, April 20, this year.

Created in support of the local music scene, “WXPN Homegrown Originals Volume 2” features XPN-exclusive performances of original songs by 10 Philly-area artists.

Caring Less, an indie rock band out of Philadelphia, performs during a WXPN Key Studio Session in 2023.

The new volume is the second vinyl recorded by the radio station. WXPN produced its first vinyl “Homegrown Originals LP” for Record Store Day 2023.

“'Homegrown Originals' was so well-received by the music community last year that we’re able to do even more this year: More artists featured, more copies pressed, and more stores carrying the album,” wrote WXPN Local program host John Vettese in the new collection’s liner notes.
