Oktoberfest in Dewey Beach highlights weekend

Dewey Beach from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 as part of the
restaurant's Oktoberfest celebration. Admission is free.

Dewey Beach is known for hosting many types of music acts at its various nightspots, but this weekend will see a performance by a group that even your grandparents might like.

The Happy Wanderers Oompah Band will play the Rusty Rudder's annual Oktoberfest celebration from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. A special $5 bar menu of German-themed food items will be offered, as well. Those who prefer contemporary rock and Top-40 pop hits can check out cover band favorite The Jump Off at 9:30 p.m. The Rudder has two more weekends left for its 2016 season. Its annual Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 29 will be hosted by Love Seed Mama Jump, while the closing party on Saturday, Nov. 5 will feature the music of The Loop. All three weekends will feature free admission.

In downtown Ocean City, the Alibi Room has a major concert on its hands.  National recording act Jimmie's Chicken Shack, which will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 ($20). The group, which formed in Annapolis way back in 1992, is sure to play some of its signature rock hits such as "Do Right," "High" and "Dropping Anchor."  Looking ahead, the band will kick off its 25th year in existence with a Jan. 6 show at Rams Head Live in Baltimore.

The second annual Ocean City Elvis Festival is set to take place Oct. 27-30 at the Clarion Fountainbleau Hotel. All ticket packages include lodging at the hotel, and the prices range from $119 to $199. To make advance reservations, visit www.oceancityelvisfestival.com. Those who would just like to get a little taste of what the event is about can attend the free kickoff at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 when some of the performers will mingle with guests and participate in a little Karaoke.

Elsewhere in Ocean City, local singer Judy Mangini will bring her Judy Sings the Blues show to The Big Easy on 60 this weekend. She will perform from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, and admission is free.
