Hillis: New York City comedian coming to Milton Theatre

ROGER HILLIS, DELMARVANOW CORRESPONDENT
Comedienne Maija DiGiorgio will appear at the Milton Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14.

Last weekend's snowfall caused many bars and restaurants to shutter their doors for the evening and wait for things to clear up.

Those with cabin fever have a few entertainment draws waiting for them this weekend if they venture out.

The Milton Theatre always has something going on, and Saturday, Jan. 14 will be no exception. "Unmistakably Maija," a one-woman show featuring comedienne Maija DiGiorgio, is scheduled for 8 p.m. (with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.) The mixed-race performer is known for her personal commentary on her heritage, relationships, politics, culture and more. She was born and raised in New York City, and began performing with her show business family at a young age. She grew up to find success as a morning radio show host in the Big Apple, and has appeared in numerous movies and television shows.

In addition to performing comedy, the multi-talented DiGiorgio has tried her hand directing independent movies, as well. Ticket prices her Milton concert are $15, $20 and $25.

Atlanta-based rock 'n' roll quartet Radio Birds always makes time for a Delmarva appearance when it is in the midst of one of its cross-country tours. It will miss out on Ocean City this time around, but will manage a free one-nighter at the Dogfish Head brewpub in downtown Rehoboth Beach at 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14.

Atlanta-based rock 'n' roll quartet Radio Birds will return to the
area to play a free concert at the Dogfish Head brewpub in downtown
Rehoboth Beach at 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. It is the band's last
American show before embarking on a lengthy overseas tour.

Expect a heaping helping of tunes from Radio Birds' "Contemporary American Slang" album. The Rehoboth appearance will be the last time the band members perform on American soil for a while, as they are embarking on an overseas tour that kicks off Tuesday in Germany. The group will play a total of 32 shows in the month-and-a-half outing, which will also include Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
