Tickets are on sale now for Joan Jett's May 6 appearance at OC's Springfest.

While spring may seem like it's a long way off, music fans are already dipping into their wallets and pocketbooks for an Ocean City rock concert that will be worth waiting for.

Locals are buzzing about this year's edition of Springfest, which will feature a headlining appearance by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts on Saturday, May 6. Tickets, ranging from $30 to $50, are on sale now via www.ticketmaster.com. A look at the online seating chart shows that seats closest to the stage are already selling briskly.

With a catalog of hits including "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," "Bad Reputation" and "Hate Myself for Loving You," Jett was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. One year earlier, she had appeared at the rock hall's ceremony when Nirvana was inducted, performing that band's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." She was also a founding member of the all-female 1970's group, The Runaways.

Jett has played the Bottle & Cork nightclub in Dewey Beach several times throughout the course of her career, however, her most recent area show was more than a decade ago, when she shared a bill with Def Leppard at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury.

The 27th annual edition of Springfest will kick off Thursday, May 4, and concert headliners for that night and also Friday, May 5 have yet to be announced.
