Fager's Island oyster event highlights music weekend

Baltimore party band Honey Extractor will play Fager's Island in Ocean City at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18. Their performance is part of that afternoon's 4th Annual Oyster Garden event.

Rock 'n' roll and seafood aren't exactly synonymous with one another, but they are two great tastes that will go together on Saturday.

That's when Fager's Island will host its 4th Annual Oyster Garden event from noon to 4 p.m. Baltimore party band Honey Extractor will hit the stage at 1 p.m. to entertain the munching masses. Local oyster experts will dispense knowledge about how they are cultivated. Craft beers, barbecued ribs, chicken and side dishes will also be on the all-you-can-eat menu. Tickets are priced at $49 and will be available at the door barring an advance sellout.

In other OC news, check out the article elsewhere in this issue about tickets going on sale for the return of the Beach Boys. While the iconic group has played in front of many thousands of people over the years on Delmarva — usually outdoors — it will play a smaller venue this summer, namely the Ocean City Performing Arts Center.

On Aug. 23, the band will play two shows in one day; Mike Love and company will play to a total of 2,400 fans if they both sell out.

Philadelphia ska-reggae act The Snails will return to the stage of the
Dogfish Head brewpub in downtown Rehoboth Beach at 10 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 18. Admission is free.

In downtown Rehoboth Beach, the Dogfish Head brewpub always has a concert or two up its sleeve.

Lancaster, Pa. alt-bluegrass combo Vinegar Creek Constituency will make its Dogfish debut on Friday. Philadelphia ska-reggae act The Snails will return on Saturday.

Next month finds a doozy on the calendar for fans of garage-style powerpop. The March 3 event will be headlined by Boston-based indie rockers The Figgs; it will also see the return of the all-star project known as Split Squad (featuring members of The Fleshtones, Blondie and The Plimsouls). All of the Dogfish shows start at 10 p.m. and all are free.
