Fitz & the Tantrums

Music is in the air, and our local beach towns are once again welcoming a plethora of national talent to entertain us in the coming days.

At the Bottle & Cork, alternative-rock act Fitz & the Tantrums will make its Dewey Beach debut Sunday, July 30, following a 9:30 p.m. opening set by New Respects ($45). Local fans might have caught the high-energy group at Dover's Firefly Music Festival, where Fitz and the gang played in 2012 and 2016. At press time, more than 800 tickets had been sold for the Dewey show, with about 200 remaining available for purchase.

The show was originally scheduled to take place outside at Hudson Fields in Milton, but will now take place inside in Dewey.

Country star David Nail will return to the Bottle & Cork on Thursday, Aug. 3, following a 9:30 p.m. opening set by Shane Gamble ($25). Former regional cover band Mr. Greengenes will play its annual reunion show at the Cork on Friday, Aug. 4; that show sold out the same day tickets went on sale last spring. The venue also just announced a return appearance by Lucinda Williams, who will be joined by opening act Jesse Malin on Sunday, Aug. 13 ($35).

Elsewhere in Dewey, the Rusty Rudder will host a 26th anniversary bash for its house band, Love Seed Mama Jump, on the outside deck at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 29 ($10). As with the group's milestone 25th anniversary last year, several former members will be on hand to jam. The Rudder will also present a free concert by a country trio from Nashville — the all-female Runaway June — on the inside stage at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. Other upcoming country events at the Rudder include Maggie Rose on Sunday, Aug. 20 ($10) and High Valley on Wednesday, Aug. 30 ($20).

Singer/Songwriter Hunter Hayes performs during the sold out Lady Antebellum Wheels Up 2015 Tour at Bridgestone Arena on September 11, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee. Hayes will perform at the Freeman Stage in Selbyville on July 28.

In Selbyville, the Freeman Stage at Bayside continues to pull out the national heavy hitters in swift succession. Pop-country singer Hunter Hayes will perform Friday, July 28 ($35 to $65), following a 7 p.m. duo set by Delmarva's own Lauren Glick and Dave Tarlecki.

Reggae favorite Michael Franti & Spearhead will play a sold-out show Saturday, July 29. Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame icon Chicago plays to a sold-out crowd Tuesday, Aug. 1; that booking was quite a coup for the Freeman organization, as Chicago has previously played for many thousands of people locally at the aforementioned Hudson Fields location in Milton and also the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury.

On Thursday, Aug. 3, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will follow a 7 p.m. set by the Jamie McLean Band ($35 to $60).

Country crooner Josh Thompson is set to play the Cowboy Coast Saloon in Ocean City at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 ($10). Upcoming concerts there will feature Craig Morgan on Thursday, Aug. 10, and Aaron Lewis on Thursday, Aug. 24.
