That Pie Girl, who entered nine pies in the State Fair competition, won five first places, a judge's award, a third place and a pink ribbon.

Amy Watson Bish loves making pies. She entered nine pies in the Delaware State Fair culinary competition.

"I DID THE THING!" Amy Watson Bish of Wilmington told friends on Facebook Thursday morning. They had been anxiously awaiting results with her.

She won first place in the lemon category with her Lemon Buttermilk with Raspberry Swirl pie; first in the cherry category with her Sweet Cherry Streusel pie; first place and a judge's award in the savory category with her Tomato Corn Cheddar quiche; first in the baker's choice category with her S'mores pie; and first in the baked pie crust category.

She also won third place in the peach category with her Polka Dot Peach pie and a pink ribbon for her Apple Brown Sugar Caramel Crumb. She doesn't yet know what the pink ribbon means.

Amy Watson Bish won first place in the State Fair's savory pie category with her Tomato Corn Cheddar quiche.

Watson, who by day is associate director of marketing at the Grand and the Playhouse on Rodney Square, began making pies five years ago to get over her fear of making pie dough.

She enjoyed it so much, she began to make pies for a few friends at the holidays and other special occasions.

Because people used to call her "That Watson girl" when she was younger, she adapted the name to "The Pie Girl," which she uses as a moniker on social media.
