Milton city manager goes for simple, but professional, attire, has 'New York flair'

WHO: Kristy Rogers, 34, of Georgetown, Milton city manager.

Kristy Rogers wears a black, white and coral maxi dress with a coral cardigan, both from White House Black Market, and black sandals from Rack Room in Rehoboth Beach.

WHY: She was nominated by Charles Fleetwood, who says, “Kristy is always dressed very stylishly, always professional. She loves her bling, loves her heels. She’s a born-and-bred Sussex County girl, who dresses with New York flair.” 

HER STYLE: “Simple but professional. With jewelry. But not trendy.”

WEARING, at her office and out and about in Milton:

FIRST OUTFIT — Black and white dress with three-quarter-length sleeves from New York and Co.; beige high-heel sandals from Rack Room at Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth; silver necklace trimmed with pearls and stones from New York and Co.; silver stiletto drop earrings; white sapphire ring with stones set in a bow pattern from Premier Designs; bracelet with peridot, her daughter’s birthstone, from Kay Jewelers; Alex and Ani bracelet that says ‘Mom"; Origami Owl charm bangle; silver watch with blue stones (“I think I just picked it up at Target because I am hard on watches”); diamond engagement, wedding and anniversary bands set in yellow gold.

SECOND OUTFIT — Black, white and coral maxi dress, coral cardigan from White House Black Market; black high-heel sandals from Rack Room, “just like my beige ones"; black, rope-style necklace, “a cherished necklace from my daughter"; black onyx and white sapphire bracelet and ring; pewter-tone and crystal earrings from Premier Designs.

THIRD OUTFIT — Navy suit with multicolored blouse from WHBM; vintage diamond brooch on lapel; aurora borealis stone ring; BCBG tan leather stilettos.

WHERE SHE SHOPS: Tanger Outlets, WHBM and New York & Co. “My go-tos.”

HOW SHE SHOPS: “When I shop with a certain look in mind I shop until I find the outfit and accessories with the desired appearance. If I am looking for something quick, I’ll run by myself. Or I go with my mom and daughter. Sometimes, I’ll drag my husband along.”

MOST RECENT PURCHASE: A maxi dress from WHBM.

OLDEST ITEM IN HER CLOSET: A dress worn on her honeymoon. “It’s black and gray silk dress, from White House Black Market.”

MANE, MANICURE AND MAKEUP: For her hair, she relies on Urban Studio in Rehoboth. She skips a manicure. She doesn’t leave the house without a touch of makeup. “My makeup is very simple. Natural colors. I don’t go out without my Maybelline mascara.”

BEST FOOT FORWARD: “Love them all, sandals, heels, all kinds. Great looking shoes are a must-have complementing accessory for an outfit. Comfort is a plus, too.”

FAVORITE COLOR: Pink.

FAVORITE FRAGRANCE: Victoria’s Secret Scandalous.

WORTH THE SPLURGE: Jewelry. “Fine jewelry, cosmetic jewelry, all of it.”

NOT WORTH THE SPLURGE: Manicures. “I’m a bit of a nail biter.”

FAVORITE FASHION RESOURCE: Pinterest.

Arden laywer favors classic style with touch of vintage

WISH I HADN’T BOUGHT IT: A red suit jacket. “I liked it in the store but it’s not my style.”

THE GREAT PANTYHOSE DEBATE: “Pantyhose are an absolute must in the winter. Hose add a little color when the summer glow is gone.”

ORGANIZATION TIPS: “I have several jewelry boxes and organize my fine jewelry and costume jewelry, earrings, bracelets and so on. Clothes are hung in my closet by color and by style.”

FASHION NO-NO: “Not a fan of pattern mixing.”

BEST CELEBRITY HAIR: Jennifer Aniston.

GO-TO OUTFIT ON SATURDAY NIGHT: LulaRoe leggings and tunic top, heeled sandals, “and of course, complementing jewelry.”

FASHION EVOLUTION: “Starting in kindergarten, my mom says I was very picky about what I would wear. I’m still that way.”

THOUGHTS ON AGING: “Embrace it. Aging is going to happen anyway. That said, I’ve started using a lot of skin products from Mary Kay to try to prevent the signs of aging.”

ACE ACCESSORIES: “Bangle bracelets and a watch.”

PANTS OR SKIRTS? “Dresses.”

HEELS OR FLATS? Heels.

DIAMONDS OR PEARLS? Diamonds.

WHY FASHION IS IMPORTANT: “Fashion is important because it complements who you are, shows personality. Our own personal style is what makes us what we are and we show that through what we wear.”
