WHO: Gavin Bish, 44, of Wilmington, auditor.

WHY: He was nominated by his wife Amy Watson Bish, who says: “It wasn’t long ago that my husband’s summer wardrobe included many white T-shirts and khaki shorts. I told him one day to maybe add a couple colored shirts, brighten things up a bit. And, boy, did he. He’s not afraid of bold colors or patterns and has even had an impact on my choices. A proud moment: two summers ago, he was named Most Dapper Gent at Deco on the Delaware, Philadelphia’s premier 1920s event.”

HIS STYLE: Modern, with a touch of classic. “My wife asks me why I dress up to go to the grocery store. I say I’m not dressed up. I’m just wearing a jacket.”

WEARING, at Margaux bistro in Wilmington:

FIRST OUTFIT — Orange dress shirt by Alfani; seersucker blazer by Ralph Lauren; navy slacks by Dockers; brown and cream spectator shoes by Penguin; and straw Fedora hat by Stetson.

SECOND OUTFIT — Breton striped tee by J Crew; sage chinos by Lands End; navy linen jacket by Jos A Bank; and blue "Stitch Lite" Oxfords by Cole Haan.

THIRD OUTFIT — Lavender dress shirt by Van Heusen; red chinos by Ralph Lauren; and green suede driving loafers by New Republic.

WHERE HE SHOPS: “I’m 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, so shopping in stores can be difficult. Stores that work for me are Macy’s and Jos A Bank. Otherwise, I tend to shop online.”

FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Ralph Lauren and Cole Haan.

STYLE ICON: George Clooney.

MOST RECENT PURCHASE: Ralph Lauren suede boots, purchased on Amazon.

OLDEST ITEM IN HIS CLOSET: “A Harris tweed jacket that is at least 10 years old.”

GROOMING TIPS: “Keep your hair trimmed and your nails clipped. Always tuck in your shirt.”

BEST FOOT FORWARD: “I’ve been wearing a lot of driving loafers lately. Shoe trees and leather lotion are a must. Leather can get dried out and brittle, especially after it gets wet.”

FAVORITE COLOR: Blue.

FAVORITE FRAGRANCE: “I don’t wear cologne, although I do like the scent of peppermint and lavender.”

WORTH THE SPLURGE: “I’ve had my eye on a new Movado.”

NOT WORTH THE SPLURGE: “Anything with a giant label on it.”

WISH I HADN’T BOUGHT IT: “Penguin shoes that I bought for summer wear. I wear a size 13½ shoe and it was a struggle to put them on.”

GO-TO OUTFIT ON SATURDAY NIGHT: “You can’t go wrong with suede oxfords, dark jeans, a nice sweater and a great blazer.”

FAVORITE FASHION BLOGS: Esquire and GQ magazines and Looktastic.com

FASHION EVOLUTION: “For years, I stuck to blue shirts and khakis, stale and staid. About two years ago, I thought I ought to introduce some colors and textures into my wardrobe. I wanted to change things up. I’ve been having fun with my clothes ever since.”

FASHION NO-NOS: “Wearing sweats in public. Going to a decent establishment and not wearing a jacket. One can do better.”

BEST FASHION SCORE: “Kenneth Cole suede boots, 70 percent off, online.”

ORGANIZATION TIPS: “I separate my sweaters by thickness and texture, the big ones together, the thinner cotton and merino sweaters together. Same thing with my jackets.”

BEST CELEBRITY HAIR: Rob Lowe.

THOUGHTS ON AGING: “As I’ve gotten older I’ve embraced a more classic style. I stopped wearing sneakers.”

INDISPENSABLE WARDROBE ITEM(S): “A good wool suit, preferably navy, a great pair of dress shoes and a hat that is not a ballcap.”

ACE ACCESSORIES: “A good watch, a class ring and my wedding band.”

BOW TIE OR STRAIGHT TIE?  “Depends on the occasion. If we are talking formal wear, it’s got to be a bow tie.”

DENIM, LEATHER OR TWEED? Tweed.

WHY FASHION IS IMPORTANT: “It’s a great way to express yourself. I would rather be overdressed than underdressed.”
