Everybody's got their holiday food favorites.

And sometimes, all it takes is picking it up at the right restaurant or store.

Here are some of our favorite pickups in the area. We'd be interested in knowing what your favorite holiday takeouts are.

Breakfast surprise

Pecan praline coffee cake from Bing's Bakery, 253 E Main St., Newark. $7.50. It's about the diameter of a pie, and a slice is the perfect complement to your morning coffee or tea.

Appetizers

The savory spreads at Back Burner to Go in Hockessin make an annual appearance on appetizer menus. Try Better Cheddar or one of the other cheese spreads (blue cheese with fruit or chipotle-flavored). $12.95 per pint and $6.95 half pint. Find its full Thanksgiving to go menu here.

The bird

Fresh turkeys from T&A Farms, 4664 Mud Mill Rd., Wyoming. The farm sells fresh birds in sizes that start at 12-15 pounds for $43 and go up to $95 for a 28- to 31-pound bird.

Deep-fried turkeys

Johnnie's Dog House, at 3401 Concord Pike, Wilmington, has a "famous" fried turkey for $60. You have to order early, but the turkeys can be picked up on Thanksgiving Day until 3 p.m.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving extras you pick up for the holidays?

Gravy

Don't sweat making the gravy. You can buy turkey gravy for $4 a pint and $8 a quart at Janssen's Market in Greenville, along with virtually anything else you might want for Thanksgiving dinner. See their order form here

Pies and desserts

Pumpkin roll ($25) from the Hotel du Pont has a jazzy challenge from the $50 Gobbler, an 8-inch mashup of layers of pecan pie, pumpkin pie and apple spice cake iced with maple Swiss buttercream. Find the order form here. Orders are due Nov. 16.

The whole shebang

All kinds of places offer the whole Thanksgiving dinner, including Janssen's Market, and plenty offer pieces of the dinner, including Toscana to Go in Trolley Square.

At Whole Foods, just over the Delaware-Pennsylvania line in Glen Mills, you can get options ranging from dinner for four ($69) available in turkey, ham or beef with an array of carbs and sides, on up. You can even get a holiday vegan meal for two ($39).
