A delicate blossom, hungry baby birds and a fly-fishing river rat are among ornaments created from natural plant material that go on sale this week at the Brandywine River Museum of Art.

The new creations, dubbed critters, have been created by an army of volunteers for more than 40 years..

The ornament makers employ their well-honed "critter vision" to scour their yards and other places for unique pieces of flora that can be turned into cats, dogs, reindeer and more. The makers use pine cones, acorns, egg shells, flowers and seed pods, among other things.

A baby Rudolph is among the new critters in the 2018 Brandywine River Museum of Art sale.

The Critter Sale opens Thursday, Nov. 29 at the museum in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. A members-only preview sale lasts from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ornaments are available to the public from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and then through the weekend. Any critters left over will be sold in the museum gift shop.

Prices range from $5 to $35, with specialty items from $50 to $250.
