Naf Naf Grill — a fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant — will celebrate the opening of its new location off Churchmans Road in Stanton Wednesday, Feb. 20, by giving out free pita sandwiches.

The restaurant, at 60 Geoffrey Drive, will offer customers a free pita sandwich or bowl from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20, said Naf Naf chief executive officer Paul Damico.

A pita bread sandwich is prepared during a soft opening Tuesday afternoon at Naf Naf Grill in Stanton.

Naf Naf is known for its Middle Eastern cuisine such as chicken shawarma, falafel and pita bread. All is made on site, including pita made daily in the restaurant's bakery, Damico said.

Operated in the same way that a Chipotle restaurant is, Naf Naf steers customers down an assembly line so they can choose the ingredients they want in their sandwiches or bowls. They can take the food out, or eat in the restaurant's seating area.

The Stanton restaurant is Naf Naf's first Delaware location. Founded in 2008 in the Chicago suburbs, the company now has about 40 restaurants in eight states. Damico said there are no plans to add more locations in Delaware.

During the grand opening Wednesday, customers have been asked to make a donation to Alzheimer's Association's Delaware Valley Chapter.

Naf Naf means "fan the flame," according to the chain's website.

"The expression is used as an invitation for friends and family to gather and share a meal together," the website says.
