Ant-Man and the Wasp skipped 'Avengers: Infinity War' but their movie trailer is here

No, you didn’t miss size-shifting superhero duo Ant-Man and the Wasp in Avengers: Infinity War because they were so small that supervillainous Thanos couldn’t see them in the big battle in Wakanda. They sat out of the current epic movie, and instead will be in next year’s as-yet-untitled fourth Avengers film.

But you won’t have to wait till next May to see Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in action: Ant-Man and the Wasp is coming July 6 and director Peyton Reed’s sequel dropped a new trailer Tuesday. Taking place before the events of Infinity War but after Captain America: Civil War, the new movie finds Scott Lang (Rudd) out of the slammer (thanks to a deal with the FBI) and on a new adventure with love interest/rookie superhero Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and her scientist father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). 

There are some seriously great new scenes, from Ant-Man using a truck as a scooter in his Giant-Man form, Wasp taking out a whole van full of dudes and, yep, an ant playing a drum kit.

So what do we know about how these folks factor into the next Avengers flick? Well, Chris Evans tells us that Captain America and Ant-Man definitely get some quality time together because he worked a lot with Rudd. (And Ant-Man, as revealed in Civil War, is a huge Cap fan.)

“He really is such a fun guy to have on set. He’s got a lot of life and he brings a lot of joy,” Evans says. 

Lilly teases that the Wasp gets some fun scenes with the Avengers crew where Hope is “strong and confident” within that group dynamic. “She might be a newcomer but she’s extremely arrogant and really knows her worth," the actress tells us. "It was interesting to just watch everybody else and see what they were doing, and realize I can’t gauge anything by what they’re doing. I just have to go back to who Hope is and just be her. It doesn’t matter if she’s in the presence of a demigod or a Hulk, she is her and nothing will shift that.”

Doing an Avengers movie “blew my mind,” Lilly adds. “I didn’t go into it with huge expectations but the experience was surreal. It was like sitting down and having coffee with a room full of rock stars. It turns out that all of those rock stars are lovely, intelligent, concerned and interesting people.”
