Ocean City Restaurant Week returns again this fall — running from Oct. 9-23.

The event, now in its 10th year, was created to spur some business at the end of the tourist season, according to Liz Walk, events manager of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association.

"It's a win-win for everyone" she said. "Our members get free promotion to help drive their businesses and diners get to take advantage of great deals."

In addition to their regular menu, more than 20 participating establishments will offer $10, $20, $30 and $40 lunch and dinner specials for patrons. Dining options range from simple to fine dining.

"Diners love to try new things, but sometimes they need a good excuse to do so," Walk said. "And that's where restaurant week comes in."

New to the event this year is The Crabby Pig, which opened on Coastal Highway at the beginning of the summer.

The restaurant will offer three menus featuring options like homemade cream of crab soup, barbecue pork nachos, seared ahi tuna, grilled salmon and marinated filet at three separate price points.

"It seems like the restaurants that benefit the most from Restaurant Week are the ones who create special menus for it," Walk said. "Plus, coming up with a new exclusive menu gives talented chefs a chance to show off some creativity — and they love doing that."

Once the owners of Culture / Authentic Eatery saw the benefits of participating for the first time last year, they signed up again. Jody Wright, who co-owns Culture with her husband, Travis, said restaurant week brought in a lot of new customers.

"It was great for us," she said.

This year, guests will be able to choose three special menu options — like coconut shrimp tacos, belizean chicken stew, veggie rice bowls and chicken tostadas — at Culture for $15, available for dine-in or carry-out.

But deals aren't limited to just lunch and dinner. Many eateries participating in restaurant week are offering breakfast specials as well.

Happy Jack Pancake House came up with a number of $10 entrees to choose from like pumpkin spice pancakes, nutella french toast and a spicy jalapeño skillet bowl —made with home fries, cream cheese jalapeño poppers, scrambled eggs, and topped with crumbled bacon and melted cheddar cheese.
