Two Stones Pub, a local chain offering a large variety of craft beers along with upscale pub fare, plans to open its sixth location later this year in Middletown.

Patrons sit at the bar at Two Stones Pub in Kennett Square, Pa. The chain plans to open its sixth location in Middletown by the end of this year.

Chef/owner Michael Stiglitz is leasing a 4,766-square-foot site at 840 Kohl Ave. in the new Hedgelawn Plaza off Middletown-Warwick Road.

The eatery will have a 648-square-foot, 40-seat outdoor patio.

Stiglitz has been on a roll since opening his flagship Two Stones brewpub in Chesmar Plaza near Newark in 2011.

Currently, there are Two Stones Pub locations in Brandywine Hundred and Hockessin. He also operates the Pennsylvania locations in Kennett Square and Jennersville.

In 2015, Stiglitz opened a brewery, 2SP Brewing Co., in Aston, Pennsylvania.

Two Stones Pubs offer salads, tacos, burgers, snacks like crispy Brussels sprouts with Sriracha mayonnaise, and entrees ranging from scrapple-stuffed meatloaf to vegan ravioli and seitan.

According to Joseph Latina, a broker with Patterson-Woods Commercial Properties who has worked with Two Stones since 2011, Stiglitz chose Middletown because of its "strong growth market" for his brand.

Latina said the Hedgelawn Plaza has high visibility, is centrally located and will have easy access off the new Route 301 Bypass Road.

The new Middletown site should be opened by the end of this year. It will have 200 seats. Visit www.twostonespub.com/
