Wilmington's Margaux French eatery set to open in two weeks
A reader recently sent us an email asking about the anticipated Margaux French restaurant in downtown Wilmington.
We ran a story on the restaurant in April, and just checked back with the owner.

Margaux Restaurant should open in June
Any update on the French bistro that was supposed to open in the Delaware Trust building last fall? We have been looking forward to it.

Dana, I just checked with owner Soufiane Lalani about his coming-soon Margaux restaurant in downtown Wilmington. He told us Wednesday he anticipates the opening will be within the next two weeks.
Stay tuned. I'll share the information as soon as I get an exact date.
Lalani recently announced the executive chef is Christopher Montgomery, who has worked at Talula’s Table in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and Talula’s Garden in Philadelphia.
Lailani and his business partner, and childhood friend, Karim Hammouchene, with whom he grew up in their native Morocco, are opening the 72-seat brasserie near Rodney Square. They will be serving upscale French comfort food.
The partners have renovated a bottom floor site in the former Delaware Trust building, now known as The Residences at Rodney Square. The 13-story Classical Revival building, on the National Register of Historic Places, is owned by The Buccini/Pollin Group.
"We want a classic brasserie, not intimidating French gastronomy. It will be like Balthazar in New York," said Lailani of the legendary brasserie owned by Keith McNally that has been a part of the Manhattan dining scene since 1997.
The partners are taking over a historic space that has been sitting empty for at least five years. The 902 N. Market St. site was last home to Vinoteca 902, an experimental Mediterranean and Latino fusion eatery.
