The Paul Bunyan Lunchbox is taking a break.

The food truck at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery at 6 Cannery Village Center in Milton, first unveiled in 2013, has been replaced with a new, state-of-the-art kitchen.

The new kitchen at Dogfish Head's brewery takes the place of the former food truck.

Since early July, customers have been able to order pizzas, calzones, burritos, sandwiches, pastas, salads and desserts at the new cooking site that's located next to the brewery's tasting room, and then eat outside. It's open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Construction began on the kitchen earlier this year.

Some of the foods now available at Dogfish Head's new eatery at its Milton brewery include pizza and sandwiches.

“The new Tasting Room & Kitchen allows our gastronomically skilled co-workers to experiment with inventive culinary recipes to share with our brewery guests and the Coastal Delaware community,” said Sam Calagione, CEO and founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, in a prepared statement.

“We’re continually looking for creative ways to further enhance our visitor experience and this new place and its offerings will accomplish just that.”

Food has been offered, on a limited basis at the Milton brewery, for the past five years at the Bunyan Lunchbox. The food truck, fabricated in California, was named for lumberjack legend Paul Bunyan.

The food truck resembles a giant black lunch pail with a wood-fired grill jutting from one side. It served the brewery’s line of packaged sausages and bratwursts infused with Dogfish Head beers, spicy pickles made with 60-Minute IPA, and a canned clam chowder, made in Milford, that was blended with half-and-half and DFH’s dark Palo Santo Marron brew.

The menu has changed since then. And Dogfish Head no longer is associated with any of those food lines.

But as the food truck’s offerings expanded and the number of guests at the brewery grew, it was decided a bigger cooking space was needed to serve visitors.

The new kitchen has opened at the Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton. It is offering some of the same foods as its Rehoboth Beach brewpub.

The new menu still includes favorites from the food truck including Grilled Cheese with 60 Minute IPA Pub Cheese, the Midas Touch-Marinated Pulled Pork Sandwich, Bratwursts topped with 90 Minute IPA Sauerkraut, Namaste Curried Chicken Salad Wrap, and the Palo Santo Marron Meat-lovers Chili.

Prices, generally under $10, have ranged from $5 for the grilled cheese to $6 for Midas Touch Pulled Pork.

Cold cans of ales can be purchased from the kitchen, or visitors can go to the brewery's Tasting Room for a flight, full pour or to fill up a growler or crowler.

Seating is available at the picnic and high-top tables surrounding the brewery’s Steampunk Treehouse. Visitors also can bring food into the tasting room.

The Bunyan Lunchbox food truck will now be available for special events.
