The New Castle real estate that's been home to one of the most successful Capriotti's sandwich shops in the chain is listed for sale for $995,113, according to LoopNet, a commercial real estate web site.

The property at 708 W. Basin Road has been home to Capriotti's for more than 30 years.

The popular Capriotti's chain, which has 15 Delaware locations, is getting new menu options this month and shrinking the size of its sub rolls.

Ashley Morris, chief executive officer of Capriotti's Sandwich Shop chain, told The News Journal the New Castle store itself is not for sale and the franchisee will remain the same.

"The only thing that is for sale is the actual real estate," Morris said. "It will be a fantastic investment for anyone who purchases it."

Morris said the Basin Road store, which opened in 1988, is the second Capriotti’s location ever built.

"It's one our most successful locations in the chain of 100 plus locations. In fact it is in the Top Five," he said.

Morris said the 1,068-square-foot store has a new lease that spans more than 19 years with options and the store will stay in its location indefinitely.

"No reason to ever move it," he said, adding it's a Delaware landmark "that's getting a tiny face lift as we speak."

Capriotti's, known for its roasted turkey subs, was founded in Wilmington's Little Italy neighborhood in 1976. The first store in the chain is still operating on Union Street.

Morris and partner Jason Smylie purchased the chain in 2008. Now based in Las Vegas, Capriotti's has locations in more than 16 states.
