The Boardwalk in Ocean City bustles at night with people moving about and performers entertaining passersby.

Maryland and Delaware are both up for another USA Today travel award — this time for their boardwalks.

The Ocean City and Rehoboth Beach boardwalks are among 20 nominated in a recent USA Today 10Best Readers Choice poll.

Boardwalks from around the nation are vying for the title of "Best Boardwalk," including destinations in New Jersey, California, Florida, Virginia and Maine.

"We are thrilled to have been featured," said Jessica Waters, Ocean City communications manager. "Our beloved boardwalk has a lot of charm and much to offer."

The iconic Ferris Wheel, Fisher's Popcorn and Thrasher's Fries, to name a few.

"Our boardwalk resonates with people's pasts ... there's something nostalgic about it," she said. "But it is also very hip and fresh, constantly enticing newcomers. I think that is really special."

Sharon Lynn, Rehoboth Beach city manager, said she was honored Delaware's wooden boardwalk made the list.

Flanked by eclectic shops, restaurants, businesses and family amusements, the mile-long boardwalk is a main reason Rehoboth Beach was named one of the best family beaches on the East Coast in 2014 by ABC Travel Guide.

"There is truly something for everyone on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk," she said.
