Trying out Delaware's newest brewery, Revelation Craft Brewing Company.

After months of eager anticipation, Revelation Craft Brewing Company is now officially pouring beers.

I don't know if you remember, but I wrote their "grand opening" article in March. The microbrewery, located on Central Street in West Rehoboth, unfortunately has had its fair share of trials and tribulations with getting open.

But despite all the red tape, the grand opening Friday, June 1, was nothing short of a success. Throughout the day, hundreds checked out the place, and more importantly, the beer.

I ordered a flight with the downtown donut brown, a thick, super-rich imperial brown ale, the smoked oyster stout made with 5 pounds of shucked local oysters, the crisp and perfectly bitter mother-in-law IPA and the nitro hoppy happy lager, my favorite.

Each beer was perfectly balanced, unique and flavorful in its own, special way. I was really surprised at how smokey the oyster stout smelled, while being so light on the tongue, with only subtle hints of smoke flavor.

As I took my time enjoying each brew, I couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful photos hanging up inside the brewery. I later discovered they were photographs taken by head brewer Patrick Staggs' father, Darrell Staggs.

Although the space is small — just 1,500-square-feet — Staggs and the partners hope Revelation will give locals, and tourists alike, a new reason to visit West Rehoboth. It'll be an east feat I'm sure, with its modern, cozy atmosphere and exceptional brews.

Important to note: Revelation is situated along the Junction and Breakwater bike trail and is a proud supporter of those who bike. The brewery is currently offering free browlers to any bicyclists who visit. For those who don't yet know, a browler is a growler made specifically to fit inside a bicycle's water bottle holder. How cool is that?

See what else Revelation has up its sleeve by visiting the brewery at 19841 Central St., Rehoboth Beach. It's open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
