There is a bunch of fun stuff happening this weekend, starting August 5. Here are our favorites:

Celebrate International beer day

East Coast Garden Center in Millsboro will host an inaugural event —Brews, BBQs and Bushes — featuring a number of local breweries, local barbecue and all things bushes, in honor of International beer day.

Local businesses participating include Big Oyster Brewery, 3rd Wave Brewing Co., Dogfish Head, Sposato Winery and Bethany Blues BBQ. Additionally, East Coast Garden Center will be teaching "how to" classes on how trimming and properly planting bushes, and which bushes are perfect for bees and butterflies.

The event will run from 4-7 p.m., and will also include a special bush sale. Drink tickets will be available for purchase as well as barbecue dinner options.

If you go: 30366 Cordrey Rd, Millsboro, Delaware. Call 302-945-3489 for more information.

Tomato Festival

The historic Lewes farmers’ market will host its annual tomato festival, Saturday, August 6 from 8 a.m. until noon, at Shipcarpenter Street in downtown Lewes.

The event will feature an array of local tomatoes, in addition to a multitude of other fresh, local fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, chicken, freshly-laid eggs, baked goods, milk, yogurt, ice cream, plants, herbs and freshly cut flowers. There will also be cooking demonstrations, recipe contests and activities for the kids.

The HLFM is encouraging market-goers to wear red to celebrate this year’s successful crop of tomatoes.

More information about the market is available at historiclewesfarmersmarket.org.

Dewey Beach 5K Buddy Run

The annual Dewey Beach 5K Buddy Run, benefiting Best Buddies Delaware and the Boardwalk Buddy Walk, is Sunday, August 7.

Pre-registration is $25 and includes a pancake breakfast, premium running t-shirt, several age group awards and an opportunity to meet some the buddies. Event day registration is $30 and still includes all of the above.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the race begins around 8 a.m. at the Dewey Beach Lions Club at 115 McKinley St., Dewey Beach. Visit teambestbuddies.org/buddyrun for more information, to register or to donate.

White Marlin Open

The 43rd White Marlin Open, the world's largest billfish tournament, is returning to Ocean City August 8-12.

Last year's event drew more than 300 boats from up and down the East Coast to fish for a record purse of nearly $4,000,000.

Plan on fishing? Visit whitemarlinopen.com to register. Don't plan on fishing? Venture down to the docks to take in all of the action anyway. Not to mention, bustling Ocean City. Hotels and restaurants will be featuring a number of deals and specials in honor of the event.
