Claddagh on the Shore has closed its doors permanently, but the building will not stay vacant for long.

Ever-popular Ocean City restaurant, Liquid Assets, has confirmed it will be taking over the space to open a second location.

Paula Ross, general manager, said demolition has already begun, but specifics on important details such as the new restaurant name, concept, menu and design are still being determined. Ross assures Liquid Asset fans that, "it will be lovely."

The news of expansion comes after a victorious year for Liquid Assets.

In 2016, the laid-back, yet fine dining establishment was recognized by the Restaurant Association of Maryland for having the best wine and beverage program in the state.

The high honor came shortly after Liquid Assets received worldwide recognition from Condé Nast Traveler. The international publication raved over the restaurant's Wagyu Burger, crediting it as the fourth best burger in America.

Last spring, Liquid Assets' owner John Trader said, "I am very thankful for our staff’s efforts and the incredible recognition from our peers. But most importantly, for our customers that have supported us for over 30 years and who continue to make it all possible. Cheers to them."

We will continue to follow and update this story as it develops.
