Delaware's own Iron Hill Brewery is heading south and will open its first brewery and restaurant outside the Delaware Valley.

The company announced last week its plans to open brewery No. 13 in Greenville, South Carolina, with the intentions of being open sometime during the spring of 2018.

The opening date is scheduled to be shortly before Iron Hill opens its doors in Rehoboth next summer

“The Carolinas continue to be a hotbed of activity for the craft beer industry with Greenville as one of the more prominent cities within that fold,” co-founder Kevin Finn said in a press release. “Our team is thrilled to become part of this vibrant community and assist with its growth through new jobs and a new place to enjoy great food, great beer and each other. Our simple philosophy of pairing our craft menu items with our made from scratch beer has made us a compelling force in the hospitality industry for over two decades. We look forward to bringing our trademark hospitality to Greenville and to raising a pint with our newly expanded family.”

The Greenville location will include a seating capacity of 250. The 7,500-square-foot space was designed by Boulder, Colorado-based Bray Architecture. According to the Upstate Business Journal, the location was formerly occupied by the national Tex-Mex restaurant chain, Don Pablo's.

Iron Hill has been expanding after it received an equity investment from A&M Capital Opportunities to help further grow the company. Another restaurant and brewery is planned for Center City Philadelphia in 2018, which will be the company's ninth Pennsylvania location.
