The Buccini/Pollin Group Inc., celebrated the topping out of its $75 million residential project in downtown Wilmington.

Dubbed The Residences at Mid-town Park and Mid-Town Parking Garage, the project was topped out this week. Topping out is a construction industry term for when a building's last beam is put into place.

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki speaks at The Buccini/Pollin Group's topping out ceremony.

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki joined Buccini/Pollin to mark the milestone.

“As one of the nine cranes gracing the Wilmington skyline, the Mid-town project is a milestone of the ongoing renaissance of downtown, marked by the project’s creation of 363 construction jobs in our city,” Rob Buccini, co-president of The Buccini/Pollin Group said.

The Residences at Mid-Town Park and Mid-Town Parking Garage will sit at 820 N. Orange St. and comprise 200 apartments, 12,000 square feet of retail space and a 511-space parking garage.

Upon completion, the project will consist of one five-story building and one nine-story building connected by a pedestrian bridge. The parking garage is about 50 feet below street level and is the first subterranean parking garage in the city.

The parking garage portion of the project will be delivered in the first quarter of 2018 with the multi-family portion arriving in the summer of 2018.
