Back again: Mary Lee the Shark tracked off Va. coast

Mary Lee the Shark, the great white shark who captured the imagination of many Delmarva residents in 2015 with a combination of frequent visits and an active Twitter feed, was tracked to off the coast of Virginia's Eastern Shore on Tuesday.

The 16-foot shark has been tracked by OCEARCH since September 2012 and made a few visits to the Delmarva coastline last year. It was pinged off the Virginia coast Tuesday, April 12.

Shark, named by Jaws author's wife, pings off Delmarva

The shark has gained a following by having an active social media life in 2015, responding to Twitter followers from its @MaryLeeShark feed.

In a Twitter direct message to a Delmarvanow.com reporter in December, the shark explain why he like the area so much.

"Wild horses couldn't drag me away from Maryland's blue crabs. Oh, wait... -;()" the message stated.
