Delmar house fire causes $130,000 in damage

DELMARVANOW STAFF REPORT

A house fire in Delmar that caused $130,000 in damages has been ruled accidental by the state fire marshal's office.

More than 30 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze in the 300 block of Highland Ave. on Monday, March 13, at 7:31 p.m. and brought the fire under control in about 90 minutes.

The Fire Marshal’s Office said the preliminary cause of the fire at the two-story, wood-framed, single-family home was ruled to be an overloaded extension cord.

The fire, which originated in a bedroom, was discovered by an occupant, the report said.

The home was equipped with working smoke alarms.

There were no injuries, it said.
