Indian River names district teacher of the year finalists

The Indian River School District has named its three finalists for the district teacher of the year.

Nicole Morey, a math teacher at Georgetown Elementary School, Lisa Richardson, a reading specialist at Millsboro Middle School and Jill Young, a second grade teacher at Lord Baltimore Elementary School are the teachers up for the award this year.

Last year's winner was Melissa Grise, a fourth-grade teacher at John M. Clayton Elementary School.

The ceremony will also honor the 16 teachers who were named teacher of the year for their school.

The individual school winners are:

  • Dori Camper, Southern Delaware School of the Arts
  • Ashley Collins, North Georgetown Elementary School
  • Laurie Hall, Phillip C. Showell Elementary School
  • Linda Hockman, Georgetown Kindergarten Center
  • Noel Lenhart, G.W. Carver Academy
  • Nicole Morey, Georgetown Elementary School
  • Jill Oliva, Sussex Central High School
  • Thomas Peet, Howard T. Ennis School
  • Irene Retzos, John M. Clayton Elementary School
  • Lisa Richardson, Millsboro Middle School
  • Justin Stoeckel, East Millsboro Elementary School
  • Danielle Squillante, Long Neck Elementary School
  • Jennifer Taylor, Georgetown Middle School
  • Meredith Wallace, Selbyville Middle School
  • Allison Walt, Indian River High School
  • Jill Young, Lord Baltimore Elementary School

The ceremony to honor these top teachers will be held at John M. Clayton Elementary School at 7 p.m. on April 26. DelmarvaNow will have full coverage of the event.
